shoujo kageki revue starlight, episode 2 script

the official subs for revue starlight are a hot mess, so clearly it falls to me to do something about it. this is my own translation and is not made for profit.

CAVEAT: all of the dialogue and song lyrics are translated by ear except the opening and ending songs, and there may be small inaccuracies because of that, but i guarantee you that this is closer than the official subs. simulcast subbing is a complete disaster though, so at least forgive the official subbers for banana's lines pre-episode 7.


Episode 02: The Stage of Fate

KAREN
Position Zero!

GIRAFFE
The first day’s audition is now over! Aijou Karen-san. You will henceforth be allowed to participate in these auditions.

KAREN

Please understand that these auditions are top secret, and must not be spoken of to non-participants. If you talk about them to anyone… You’ll be fined.

Karen-chan, is something wrong?

KAREN
O-oh, no, I just had a weird dream!

MAHIRU
Are you really okay?

KAREN
I’m fine, I’m fine! It’s no problem! Ehehehe… aheheheh… (Just what WAS all that stuff that happened yesterday?)

KAREN, MAHIRU

KAREN

HIKARI

Didn’t it tell you? We’re under a non-disclosure agreement.

KAREN

This is revenge for yesterday, Aijou-san!

GIRAFFE
We henceforth begin the second day of the auditions… the Revue of Longing! Sing, dance, and plunder in your quest to become Top Star.

JUNNA

You don’t understand how I feel!

KAREN
I DON’T understand how you feel, and that’s why we can talk about it together until dawn!

JUNNA (crosstalk over lyrics)
I won’t lose! I CAN’T lose! I will definitely catch up!

JUNNA	KAREN

JUNNA

Hup… Sigh. But I guess this ISN’T the end after all, right? So I’m going to keep trying my best until the end. And aim to become a star with all my strength… you know?

KAREN

JUNNA
You’re giving me a nickname already?!

KAREN
You can just call me “Karen” too!
