Isaac: It is an event held to celebrate the coming of a new year. We must make many preparations in order to perform the Nooyeers, so I would like your help.
Logica: Sounds fun!
Isaac: Here are my research materials.

Logica: What's a "moi"?

Isaac: Next is the takoage. "Tako" is the Japanese word used to refer to octopus, and "age" means to fry.
Isaac: So I brought an octopus for us to share.

Logica: I wrapped the tentacles in damp breadcrumbs and fried 'em in oil.
Isaac: What a lovely smell.
Fallenstar: This looks great!
Logica: What's next, Isaac?

Isaac: This "mawashite" leads me to believe we are supposed to spin something, but this paper is so old that the kanji were too faded for me to read.
Fallenstar: Oh well, let's skip that one then.
Logica: Then what's next?
Fallenstar: On Nooyeers we play by hitting Battel Dorr and Shutelle Cok?
Fallenstar: What the heck's a Battel Dorr or a Shutelle Cok?
Logica: I guess hitting them must be part of the game, though.
Isaac: I believe the game must have been played by hitting persons named Battel Dorr and Shutelle Cok.
Logica: Huh?! That's awful!
Fallenstar: Maybe it was a way to punish criminals.
Logica: E-even if they broke the law, that's so mean...
Isaac: This is a picture of Battel Dorr.
Logica: They've been sealed away inside of a wooden board?! Then they really MUST be a terrible evildoer after all...!
Isaac: And I believe that this must be an image of Shutelle Cok.
Fallenstar: Woohoo, all done!

Logica: So we have to pound these, right?
Isaac: According to other documents I've found, other subjects of Nooyeers poundings were Rycecaykes and Evves Bell.
Logica: How many culprits were there in this crime?!!!
Fallenstar: I bet Evves Bell was the Real mastermind. Just by his name.

Logica: That's scary!!!!!

The lines mistranslated by Isaac in the beginning actually read "After a few more nights, it will be New Year's Day." (Mou ikutsu neru to, oshougatsu.) You can hear the actual song, which describes New Year's games for children, here. While tako can mean octopus and -age is generally appended to fried foods (see Japan's variation on fried chicken, karaage), here the tako referred to are kites to be flown. The traditional New Year's game played with battledores and shuttlecocks is called Oibane, and pounding mochi (rice cakes) is a culinary tradition; the Eve's Bell is a temple bell that is rung 108 times on New Year's Eve.
