Ok, I admit that most of this is just detail analysis, but I have 2 problems with this. 1. The infection didn't begin as an attempt to communicate, the Hunter, one of the only credible sources we have regarding the past, claims that everyone who was infected, even from the beginning, awoke with broken minds. And Xero and Soul Master both show that she could have communicated peacefully if she tried, but she instead deliberately chose the option that was turning people into zombies. 2. Marmu acts childish, yes, but nothing says that she was a child nor that she was forced into servitude in any way.
