precure is a long-running, monster-of-the-week-style magical girl franchise aimed at elementary school girls, animated by toei. its major distinguishing feature among other magical girl shows is that it features MARTIAL ARTS COMBAT between the magical girls and the bad guys!
precure has been airing for 20+ years now - ETA (early ‘24) its 21st series has just begun - but the nice thing about it is that almost* every precure series (e.g. one-year, 45-50 episode run) is a standalone, meaning there’s no continuity between seasons and you can watch whichever ones sound appealing to you in whatever order you want to.
*two of the early precure series, futari wa precure and yes precure 5, have direct sequels that ran the year after them and are essentially two-year-long series.

you can stream these series legally via their platform, but due to their new policies currently airing series are not available to free users so if you're on a budget you'll have to wait until those conclude.
for the other series you’ll have to rely on fansubs. there’s a nice little website called krdl dot moe where you can download fansubbed precure episodes and movies (they have tokusatsu too). you can also find them via torrenting platforms such as nyaa dot se.
if you weren’t around during the peak of anime fansubbing culture, remember that anything pre-2010s is probably going to be at least somewhat inaccurate because it was likely translated by amateurs at the beginning of their careers. fansubs MAY also include a mild swear or two so you may want to vet those privately first if you’re watching with your 8-year-old.
(i can’t advise on which fansub groups are the most accurate/friendliest for kids because i… don’t need subtitles and thus don’t use them!)
ALSO if you wind up really getting into precure to the degree you want to make fanart or fanfiction, please be mindful that this IS a series aimed at little kids: any fanwork intended for a mature audience needs to be kept to websites like ao3 or pixiv that lets you attach an age rating, so little kids won’t be stumbling upon it accidentally.
(additional quick note to parents & guardians that it is literally actually illegal in many countries to let kids 12 and younger on the internet without adult supervision!)

you can stream these series legally via their platform, but due to their new policies currently airing series are not available to free users so if you're on a budget you'll have to wait until those conclude.
for the other series you’ll have to rely on fansubs. there’s a nice little website called krdl dot moe where you can download fansubbed precure episodes and movies (they have tokusatsu too). you can also find them via torrenting platforms such as nyaa dot se.
if you weren’t around during the peak of anime fansubbing culture, remember that anything pre-2010s is probably going to be at least somewhat inaccurate because it was likely translated by amateurs at the beginning of their careers. fansubs MAY also include a mild swear or two so you may want to vet those privately first if you’re watching with your 8-year-old.
(i can’t advise on which fansub groups are the most accurate/friendliest for kids because i… don’t need subtitles and thus don’t use them!)
ALSO if you wind up really getting into precure to the degree you want to make fanart or fanfiction, please be mindful that this IS a series aimed at little kids: any fanwork intended for a mature audience needs to be kept to websites like ao3 or pixiv that lets you attach an age rating, so little kids won’t be stumbling upon it accidentally.
(additional quick note to parents & guardians that it is literally actually illegal in many countries to let kids 12 and younger on the internet without adult supervision!)
